From August 2 2026, the European Commissions enforcement powers for the EU AI Act fully apply to providers of general-purpose AI models under Regulation 2024/1689. The AI Office under DG Connect will enforce compliance including penalties of up to EUR 35 million or 7 percent of global annual turnover.
